UK Youths' Contributions to the Global Biodiversity Targets
UK Youths' Contributions to the Global Biodiversity Targets
Young people play a crucial role in delivering action for nature. Through education, activism, and innovation, we raise awareness of biodiversity loss, advocate for stronger action from decision-makers, and drive change at the community, national and global level.
But often our contributions, needs, and perspectives remain largely unheard and therefore undervalued when monitoring and reporting on biodiversity.
Therefore, GYBN UK have produced the 'Youth Action to Global Traction' report to spotlight a number of youth-led and youth-focused organisations, groups, boards and panels that are making a significant contribution to the UK meeting its international commitments on nature and biodiversity.
This report is complementary to the the UK's seventh national report, released at the end of february 2026, which highlights how they are progressing on achieving the goals and targets of the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. You can read more about the back ground of this project in the report below.
We would like to thank all of the 23 organisations for their contributions, and for the amazing work they are doing across the UK. This report captures just a small amount of the action young people are taking for biodiversity and it is not an exhaustive list of youth-led and youth-focused organisations, or those which are working to empower youth.
We would love for you to share this report on social media and your organisations channels, and tell us how you are using our report. This will help us understand the needs of the report!
We also kindly asked that the report is cited as:
