GYBN UK represent the youth voice in a number on forums for national policy development.
Annually, we attend and participate in JNCC (Joint Nature Conservation Committee) meetings - feeding into strategic discussions across the UK.
JNCC is the statutory nature advisor to all four countries of the UK (England, Scotland, Wales + Northern Ireland) and helps coordinate efforts on global and national biodiversity issues.
GYBN UK is a member of the Scottish Biodiversity Forum - the stakeholder governing body for the Scottish Biodiversity Framework.
Under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UK is tasked with reporting on national progress on the targets within the Global Biodiversity Framework. GYBN UK not only provided evidence captured within the UK's 7th National Report, but we also provided stakeholder committment to the CBD's Online Reporting Tool outlining the role youth play in meeting our targets. A more accessible version of the report can be found on our Youth Action page.
GYBN UK are active members of the Wildlife and Countryside Link contributing to policy positions and advocacy.
GYBN UK have responded to a number of UK policy consultations, and have provided a guide to responding to them too. Click on the images below to learn more:
National policy consultations are the primary way in which policy makers gather insight on policies. Check out our info on what consultations are and how to responsd.

"Environmental policy and diplomacy is essential but often impenetrable, especially for young people. Huge decisions that shape our future can come and go with little input from those who will be affected most. GYBN UK is changing that, supporting a growing and impressive group of young people to make a difference. We’re delighted and lucky to have them as Wildlife & Countryside Link members."
