Unseen Unheard
Unseen Unheard
Achieving the targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) will require a whole-of-society approach. However, despite the UK and other nations committing to Target 22 of the GBF which seeks to ensure meaningful youth inclusion among other social groups, youth in biodiversity policy have been consistently underrepresented.
COP17 will see a global review of progress against the GBF looking at countries' NBSAPs and 7th National Reports.
Alongside youth in other countries, we conducted a review of the UK's NBSAPs, including the devolved government's, and the 7th National Report specifically looking at the inclusion of youth and youth related concepts and actions.
Unseen, unheard: How youth are reflected in the UKs National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans reflects on the missing piece of youth in designing, developing and delivering these key policy mechanisms.
This report is complementary to the 'Youth Action to Global Traction' report which spotlights spotlight a number of youth-led and youth-focused organisations, groups, boards and panels that are making a significant contribution to the UK meeting its international commitments on nature and biodiversity.
We would love for you to share this report on social media and your organisations channels, and tell us how you are using our report. This will help us understand the needs of the report!
