Global Youth Biodiversity Network UK
We are working for a resilient, inclusive, and interconnected UK where ecosystems are restored and biodiversity is thriving locally, nationally, and globally. A future where people see themselves as part of nature and live and work in harmony with it.
We are a chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (gybn.org) aiming to engage more young people across the UK in biodiversity policy by providing a platform for youth engagement!
GYBN is the official youth coordination platform for the Convention on Biological Diversity
Our committee, formed of young people from across the UK, is working hard to establish this group and are looking forward to future of an inclusive biodiversity sector, where young people are valued stakeholders.
We are currently working on getting the chapter fully established, but have been working hard on a few incredible projects; learn more about them here.
In the runup to COP16, we asked young people based in the UK... what are your priorities for the future of nature?
We had some fantastic responses and shared these with the UK government, to influence their implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Find out more about this project by clicking the title above
COP16
GYBN UK sent 5 young people to COP16 in Cali, Colombia in Oct 2024. Over on our socials we've been helping to demystify the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Conference of the Parties (COP) in the lead up too and during COP16. Go check them out for bitesize explanations and signposting to further info!
In the few months since we started, we've had incredible engagement including in the media! Check out our media work by clicking the title above.
"Young people are going to inherit the earth, they should not only be heard, but an active participant in decision making. GYBN UK are a remarkable group of passionate and knowledgeable young people ensuring exactly that. What they have been able to accomplish in their first 6months is extraordinary. They are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but today."
